In April 2025, China substantially increased its exports of sugar-based sweets to Russia. Shipments of white chocolate, lollipops, caramel, marzipan, and other non-cocoa confectionery products surged by 1.5 times compared to March, reaching a record $8.5 million. In terms of volume, imports rose to 3,700 tons, a 60% increase over the previous month.

With these numbers, Russia became the fourth largest importer of Chinese sugar confectionery in April, following the United States, the Philippines, and Indonesia. These results mark the highest figures in the history of bilateral trade between the two countries. The dynamic growth in sales reflects the increasing popularity of Chinese confectionery products among Russian consumers.

Canada also joined the top five buyers, importing $7.7 million worth of sweets from China in April.
